THE AFROBEAT OF AFRICAN ART

Ije Udo, meaning “Journey to Peace” in Igbo, is a profound meditation on rebirth, resilience, and the sacred power of the female body as both vessel and storyteller. In this body of work shown at ART X LAGOS 2025, performance and visual artist Victoria Ndubuisi transforms her personal journey through pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum healing into a collective ritual of renewal.

For Uthman Adewale, these words are more than a declaration, they are a philosophy of living and making. Over nearly three decades of consistent practice, Uthman has built a foundation that rests not only on fleeting inspiration, but on the steady rhythm of work. Each brushstroke, stitch, and layer of fabric testifies to his belief that creativity is cultivated through persistence, not luck.

“Remember When?” is an Art meets Design exhibition that brings together 15 artists gathers memories like scattered fragments, each artist offering a different vessel for remembrance. Childhood returns in cotton threads, improvised toys, and Saturday morning light; ancestors speak through scarred skin, brass anklets, and
voices passed down in song.
One of my favorite art galleries in Lagos. There’s always some interesting exhibition and you get to discover some amazing artists. There’s also a stunning furniture shop downstairs which is a plus!”

I’ve been to at least three exhibitions by Nomadic and they’ve all been so beautifully curated. The gallery features a neat, lovely picturesque space, and the art director is always super attentive. Definitely looking forward to more things from them. 10/10 experience ⭐️
