THRESHOLDS

Thresholds is a group exhibition presenting evocative works by five emerging Nigerian artists bound by a shared commitment to tell a story that honors identity, growth, and transformation. The exhibition is designed to engage the audience in moments of reflection, encouraging them to witness the passage through different emotional and psychological states. From cultural pride to personal healing, and from natural harmony to societal critique, these works form a narrative of becoming and of what it means to stand at the edge of something and choose to move forward.

At its core, Thresholds is about the quiet, often invisible shifts that shape who we are. In a time where social, cultural, and personal identities are constantly evolving, this exhibition responds to the need for reflection and redefinition. The selected works collectively explore pivotal moments, emotional turning points, cultural rites, and existential crossings that speak to broader human experiences.

As Nigerian artists, their stories are grounded in a specific context, yet the emotions they express – growth, conflict, memory and resilience are universal. Works like “Introspect”, “Beyond the Veil” and “Late Bloomers” dig into internal landscapes, while “Iseda” and “Iyalode” honor cultural legacy and identity reclamation.
