Kitan Ayanda

Bio

Kitan Ayanda is a Nigerian Visual Artist (Painter), born and lives in Lagos State, Nigeria. She is an artist who finds her canvas in the vibrant interplay of acrylic, ink, and oil. With a B.A. in History and International Studies from the University of Ilorin, Kwara state. Ayanda’s art journey is deeply rooted in her academic pursuits.

However, her artistic roots trace back to her childhood when she first picked up a paintbrush. With the use of optical illusion, Ayanda challenge perceptions through distortion and layered depth.

The shifting spaces in her work reflect emotional and psychological states, while the figures represent different positions of the self; who we are, who we have been, and who we become through memory and experience.

Ayanda has participated in the 1952 Art Residency (2023), the MADhouse by Tikera and Popcentral Residency (2024), and exhibited at venues such as 1952 Art Gallery, Yenwa Gallery, the Ecobank +234Art Fair by Soto Gallery (2024, 2025, 2026), and the U.S. Consulate’s Disability Pride Exhibition (2024). Her work has also been featured in Malimbe Magazine (2023).
