Agemo Sewanu Francis is a Nigerian born Artist. He lives and works today in Badagry and studied Fine Art at Delta State University Abraka 2008 where he majored in Sculpture. He chooses the Art and elements that forged his youth. Agemo indeed grown under the influence of the Art and Cultures of the sources of its village.
Agemo’s grandfather was one of the dignitary traditional worshippers of his village. Agemo has therefore been raised surrounded by objects: statuettes, totems, mask, etc. whose were used by his grandfather. These sources of inspirations, inserted thoroughly in his work and he also poses a look at the duality between tradition and contemporaneity.
Francis Agemo’s work has been shown in various exhibitions across several locations including Benin Republic, London, Morocco and Zanzibar. Some of these exhibitions include Large Family, Maison Rouge Cotonou in 2022, Untitled in Forster Gallery Zanzibar in 2022, Lot to Say in Musee Villa Caro, Grand-popo Benin in 2022 amongst others. Agemo has also been in several residency programmes including Alexis gallery in 2019, Villa Karo Grandpopo in 2022, Montresso Art Foundation, Marrakech in 2022.
